2012 AGM sees election of the Society's first woman Vice President

Adam Sanderson indicated ahead of the meeting that he would not be standing for re-election. Adam is in the throes of relocating to a new job and a home in MIlngavie, Scotland with his family and felt that he could not realistically continue in the role of Vice President of the Society, although would definitely remain as a Society member.

While we wish Adam and his family all the luck in the world in the new venture and thank him sincerely for all his hard work on behalf of the Society, his leaving does leave a hole in the Society's management.

After many phone calls and judicious arm-twisting by the current President, a very suitable candidate emerged and was persuaded to stand for election at the AGM.

Jackie Roberts, our current London Competition Director was duly elected to the post by those present.

I'm sure that we all see this as long overdue and just reward to a long-time servant of the Society who did more than most to hold the organisation together through some lean times a few years ago and who is seen by most of the piping world as the rock upon which the London Competition stands.

Jackie's election also shows the progressive nature of the modern SPSL organisation.  Not only is Jackie the first woman VP in the 80-year history of the SPSL but she takes her place in a committee that is now 50:50 male:female.

Needless to say, Jackie will take the organisation of The London Competition into her new role but with additional clout to push us even harder to maintain the excellence that the event is known for.
